Vice President Kamala Harris rallies in Houston with Beyoncé, warns of national abortion bans under Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris, joined by music superstar Beyoncé, held a rally in Houston, Texas, on Friday night. Harris warned voters across the country that Texas-style abortion bans would spread to other states if Donald Trump were to win the presidency.

Harris has been a vocal advocate for abortion rights, emphasizing the stories of women impacted by state-level restrictions following the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade. Texas was chosen as the rally location due to its strict abortion ban.

Harris stated that if Trump were to win, there would be a national abortion ban, putting women in all states at risk. She highlighted the stories of women who suffered life-threatening pregnancy complications due to restrictive abortion laws.

Beyoncé, known for her song “Freedom” often played at Harris rallies, made a rare appearance at the event. She emphasized her role as a mother and the importance of protecting women’s rights.

The rally also featured Texas music legend Willie Nelson, who played two songs for the crowd.

Trump, earlier in the day, criticized Harris and her campaign for its reliance on “woke celebrities.”

Harris’ campaign released a new ad titled “He Did It,” directly linking Trump’s presidency and Supreme Court appointments to the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The ad was aired in Texas for the first time to coincide with Harris’ visit.

Harris has been critical of the extreme abortion restrictions being implemented across the country, calling it a “health care crisis.” She blames Trump for this crisis and points to his refusal to release his own medical records while simultaneously seeking access to women’s health information.

The article concludes with Harris’ interview with popular podcaster Brené Brown, part of her ongoing media tour.
